Week 2, Term 4

Room 1

Welcome to week 2 of term 4.  This week Joe Ken started School.

This week we got to be scientists.  We did an experiment to see how sunlight can change things.  We put some coloured shapes onto black paper and displayed them in different areas of the classroom to see what will happen.

We put one strip of paper on the wall.  This gets a little bit of sun, but is mostly in the shade.
 

We put two strips in the window where the sun shines brightly in the afternoon.
 

We put the last strip in Miss Rushbrook's cupboard where there is no sun.

We will check back in 2 weeks to see what has happened to our coloured shapes.

Week 1, Term 4

Room 1

Welcome to week 1 of term 4.  This week Channelle, Orlando, Rico and Rosaline started School.

What a busy first week back.  On Monday we had our first Gymnastics lesson. We are going to be having Gymnastics every Monday afternoon for this term.  It was lots of fun.  We had to make sure our bodies were warmed up by stretching all of our joints.  We played some games and did some different Gymnastic moves.  We liked the 'sausage roll' move!

This term we are going to learn a lot about the Sun.  This is what some of us already know about the sun.

We made our own suns by collaging paper plates with yellow and orange paper.

It is getting closer and closer to Summer, so remember to always bring your school hat to wear at morning tea and lunch.  We need to be sunsmart to keep ourselves safe.

Week 10, Term 3

Room 1

Welcome to week 10.  The last week of term 3!

On Thursday we got to travel in a bus all the way to Western Springs College to watch a special dance by Pacific Dance.  They had taught us how to do the Sasa earlier in the term and now we got to watch them dance.

First we lined up outside room 5, ready to go.

 

Then we had to walk to the bus stop to catch a big blue bus to Western Springs.

It was a bit of a squash on the bus but we saw lots of cool things along the way, like the Sky Tower!

We finally arrived at our destination.

It was a very dark room that we walked into.  We all got to sit on a red seat.  Miss Rushbrook had to sit on the floor!

Now it as time for the show to start.  It was amazing.  There were lots of guys and girls doing awesome dancing. 

Near the end of the show we got to get up and try out our dancing too.  Some of the Kowhai team even went up onto the stage.

Week 9, Term 3

Room 1

Welcome to week 9.  This week Aashine and Omar started School.

On Thursday it was the big day, we finally got to perform our dance to our families.  It was so much fun!

Week 8, Term 3

Room 1

Welcome to week 8.  This week Jennifer started School.

On Tuesday it was our big day, our performance day!  We got to finally do our dance in front of the whole School.  It was a bit scary, there were a lot of people watching.  But we had practiced lots and we did an awesome dance.  We definitely answered our question:

We hope everyone liked our dance, we enjoyed watching all the other classes perform across the School.

On Thursday 18 September we get to perform our dance to our families.  We get to be superstars on stage again!

Week 7, Term 3

Room 1

Welcome to week 7.  This week Jester started School. 

On Wednesday afternoon we had a special assembly hosted by the Revolution crew.  It was about how we can make a change when it comes to bullying.  There was singing, dancing and acting.  It was fun and we learnt a lot about how to look after our friends and who to talk to if we need help.

On Friday we had a mufti day to celebrate Tongan language week.  We look pretty cool.  We had a photo with room 23 and Miss S.

Week 6, Term 3

Room 1

Welcome to week 6.  This week Henry started School. 

On Wednesday we had some very special visitors come and show us and room 23 some new dance moves.  It was heaps of fun!  For some of the dances we stood up and for some we sat down.  The moves were pretty fast and complicated, but we got the hang of it in the end.

We also showed them our dance we have been practising for week 8...but we can't show you any photos of that yet, its a surprise!


On Friday we had a mufti day for Daffodil Day.  We are raising money to help people who have Cancer.  We went to a special assembly outside to hand over our money.  We are being good citizens!
