Week 7, Term 4

Room 1

Welcome to week 7 of term 4.  This week Walton started School.

This week we learnt about evaporation.  It is a big word to say!  It is part of the water cycle, where the sun heats up the water, turns it into teeny tiny particles that we can't see and it moves up into the sky to form clouds.  We became scientists again and did an experiment to see how evaporation worked.

First we poured some water onto the concrete and drew around it.

Then we went back later lunch to see if the water was still there.  It wasn't!  It had evaporated into the sky and the concrete was dry.  It was pretty cool.

We then watched a movie about the water cycle and learnt that it keeps going around and around and around.  Once the water is in the clouds it builds up.  The clouds get too heavy and then it rains and the water comes back to the ground.  The sun can then heat it up again and it goes back up to the sky.  Amazing stuff huh!

That's all for this week, guess what...It'll be summer next week!
